Who is Demo Diva?

The Demo Diva got its start over 15 years ago after Hurricane Katrina with residential demolition because contractors wouldn’t take a woman seriously and treated our founder, Simone, like she was clueless. At that point, Simone took New Orleans by storm and became the Demo Diva. (Truth be told; Simone isn’t really a diva. She is one of the hardest working women in New Orleans and gladly gets her hands dirty.)

Although she lost her home in the Katrina flood and had no construction experience, Simone recognized that the first step to rebuilding was demolition, and her flooded neighbors’ needs were greater than her own. Her motto was, “Let me help you get home. Trust me. I’m your neighbor.” Simone hired an experienced excavator operator, rented machinery and dumpsters, and figured it out.

Simone’s tenacity and marketing skills created one of the nation’s most unique, woman-owned demolition companies, The Demo Diva. Quickly setting herself apart from seasoned construction contractors, Simone painted all of Demo Diva’s heavy equipment, trucks, and dumpsters hot pink because she was proud to be woman-owned and unique. More importantly, The Demo Diva offered hope, provided superior customer service, and sold trust.

Today, Demo Diva has cleared away thousands of flooded and blighted homes and grown into a multi-million dollar industrial, commercial, and residential demolition business that has expanded across Louisiana and the Gulf Coast. The company still holds to those core tenets of hope, service, and trust.

About Simone Bruni.

Simone Bruni started Demo Diva in 2006 in the wake of Hurricane Katrina which devasted the New Orleans area. She struggled to come home to her Lakeview home because she couldn’t get started with the first step of rebuilding – demolition. Contractors wouldn’t take her seriously, gave her the runaround, and made her feel helpless. Simone flipped the script, started a demolition company to help her neighbors come home, and built a reputation of superior customer service.

Simone, who is synonymous with the “Demo Diva”, continues to blaze a trail in a male-dominated industry and reinvented the recipe for construction marketing, PR, social media, and customer service by creating a strong, unique brand identity and raving fans instead of customers.

Starting with an opportunity and a single hot pink dumpster on the campus of Xavier University (conveniently placed in full view of I-10 traffic), The Demo Diva has become not just an inspirational business success story, but a local business icon now with pink excavators and hundreds of pink dumpsters spread throughout New Orleans and the Gulf Coast.

What Does Demo Diva Do.

We’ve grown to offer more than just residential demolition because our clients asked for more. Every day, we’re simultaneously working on multiple residential demolition projects, industrial and commercial demolition projects, and delivering dumpsters across Metro New Orleans. It’s nearly impossible to drive around the city and not see one of our crew members, excavators, or dumpsters, especially since the equipment and dumpsters are painted hot pink.
