ICC Funds & Insurance Work

If you had flood insurance at the time of Hurricane Katrina, you may qualify for ICC Funds to cover the cost of your slab removal or house demolition. get in touch with Demo Diva, we handle all the paperwork for you!

How does the ICC process work?

Increased Cost of Compliance (ICC) is part of the National Flood Insurance Program.

Demo Diva will begin the paperwork process to qualify you, the homeowner, to receive ICC funds:

  • Obtain the damage assessment report that shows over 50% damage
  • Obtain demolition permit from Parish Government
  • Obtain Letter of Substantial Damage from Parish Government
  • Pay for the up-front cost of the Elevation Survey
  • Notify utility companies to disconnect:  Water turned off at meter, gas line removed and electrical wire to house to be cut away from house
  • Schedule a final inspection and obtain a certificate of completion from Parish Government
  • Take pictures of your house prior to demolition and file pictures with Parish Government and flood insurance company

Once all paperwork is gathered and submitted, the homeowner will receive a Proof of Loss statement which will need to be signed and returned.  Some flood insurance companies require the Proof of Loss to be notarized.

A check for 50% of the contracted amount will be mailed directly to the homeowner.  Demo Diva will perform demolition upon receipt of the first half of these funds.

Following demolition, backfill will be dropped and graded on property.  Demo Diva will take pictures of completed job, file them with the parish, and obtain the Certificate of Completion.  This certificate is sent to the flood insurance company and the final check is mailed to the homeowner.  Final payment is due immediately once you have received the check from the flood insurance company.

The contracted amount is covered by your ICC funds once you are approved by your Flood Insurance Company.
